The PSP is one of many portable gaming devices, with its biggest rival being the Nintendo DS. They are light weight, compact and convenient for carrying around, but out of these portable devices, which is ranked the best? This blog post will discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of each.

The PSP (the Play Station Portable) has proved to be a very popular device, selling almost 70 million worldwide. The screen quality is excellent, displaying 480 × 272 pixels with 168 million colors. In addition, is has the ability to connect to Wifi, which is perfect if you want to play online against your friends, look up gaming blogs for advice and cheats or even just browse the web and read other blogs or play games like Partypoker. Its best selling game is Monster Hunter Freedom 3, which sold more than 4 million copies. However, the PSP-300 was found to have some hardware issues. The interlacing on the screen was noticed when objects were moving. An in-depth review was conducted by the organisation Gaming Bits, but resulted with Sony announcing one week later that they would not release a software update for the problem.

The Nintendo DS on the other hand, was much more successful, selling almost double the amount of its rival, at 146.42 million copies. The main feature of the Nintendo DS is its touch screen. This hosts all kinds of games, from improving your drawing skills, solving puzzles and more. The range of games is also much higher, even bringing recipe packages, tutorials and videos for when you cook. The touch screen makes having a virtual pet even more real; you can almost simulate a stroking action or even throwing a ball. However, a common problem with the device, is that the touch pad loses sensitivity after some time, making some of the interactive games difficult to play.
